Welcome to Orient Express La Minerva: A New Era of Luxury in Rome
In a grand move that’s set to redefine luxury hospitality, Orient Express has unveiled its first hotel, La Minerva, in the heart of Rome. This luxurious establishment, developed in collaboration with the Italian hospitality investor Arsenale Group, opened its doors in April 2025. Located at Piazza della Minerva 69, mere steps from the iconic Pantheon, the hotel is a testament to elegance, boasting 93 finely appointed rooms, including 36 luxurious suites housed within the carefully restored walls of a 17th-century palazzo.
A Blend of History and Modern Luxury
La Minerva stands as a beautiful blend of history and contemporary design. The hotel features travel-inspired interiors curated by artist-architect Hugo Toro, incorporating bespoke details like bedside trunks reminiscent of the original Orient Express sleeper cars, adorned with linens supplied by Rivolta Carmignani. Each corner of La Minerva tells a story, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the unique spirit of travel and exploration.
Culinary Delights Await
The experiences at La Minerva extend beyond its lavish accommodations. Guests can indulge in exquisite dining at three distinct venues. The La Minerva Bar offers a selection of classic and innovative cocktails, while the rooftop Gigi Rigolatto restaurant, set to open in May, promises breathtaking views and delightful dishes. Additionally, Mimi Kakushi will launch later this year, presenting a fine Japanese dining experience that complements the hotel’s diverse culinary offerings.
Event Spaces for All Occasions
Whether for corporate events or private celebrations, La Minerva features five elegant event spaces, including the grand Olimpo Ballroom and various meeting rooms. This makes it an ideal destination for both locals and international guests seeking a sophisticated venue for their gatherings. As Gilda Perez, CEO of Orient Express, aptly remarked, this opening marks a significant moment not just for the brand but for the rich cultural tapestry of Rome itself.
Looking to the Future of Orient Express
The launch of La Minerva is just the beginning. Orient Express plans to expand its historic narrative with the upcoming Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovanelli in Venice and the introduction of the first of two Orient Express Silenseas ships, the Orient Express Corinthian, due in 2026. Each new project represents a renewed commitment to premium travel that intertwines the richness of history with the allure of modern innovation.
Experience Luxury Redefined
For affluent travelers seeking a unique blend of luxury, culture, and history, Orient Express La Minerva offers more than just a place to stay—it presents an opportunity to experience the very essence of Rome. This exquisite hotel invites you to step into a world where every detail is crafted with care, promising an unforgettable retreat for guests who relish the finer things in life.
